First Snow | Personal Project

There is something so magical and special about the first snow of the season.  Every year, it takes me right back to that excitement I would get when I was a child.  I am so fortunate because now I get to experience it with my own children and feel their enthusiasm and awe of a good winter storm.  We had a snow day on Friday and it sure was wonderful. We piled in the truck and headed to the in-laws ranch to get firewood. I, of course took a couple shots...

Christopher Senior Photos |Bend, OR Senior Photographer

The cold nipped at our fingertips as we tromped through the park to take Christopher's Senior photos. Except for the bitter cold, it was otherwise a lovely time.  I am loving the bare aspen trees!!  His mom (whom I love) came as well.  As per new tradition at Erin Brown Photography we were able to sneak a couple of mother son shots.  I love them!!  Take a look....

Caleb Senior Photos| Bend, OR Portrait Photographer

I met Caleb and his crew consisting of his mother and girlfriend on a cool, beautiful, fall morning by the river.  We wandered over the river and through the woods and took some beautiful shots to document his Senior year of High School. As always, I loved ending the session with a pic with his mom and girlfriend.  They are sweet captures for sure...

Travels To Uganda | Travel Photographer

In August, I happily traveled to Uganda with a group of peeps from my church.  It was amazing.  (I hate using that word, but it does describe my trip pretty spot on.)  As my plane descended into the thick, smokey Ugandan night I felt a purpose of place I had not felt in quite awhile.  I knew with every part of my being that I was right where I was supposed to be.  The following 12 days were spent with sense overload to the max.  As a photographer, it was priceless.  It was beautiful.  I was lovingly attacked by kids like never before, I ate exquisite, delicious foods and worshiped in churches under tents and with open cement walls.  New friends served me with love in this beautiful, foreign land.    The kids begged me to take their picture, the colors were beautiful and everything was completely new to my eye. My heart loves Uganda. Forever.

Having been home for about 3 months now, it all seems like a distant dream that I am so thankful to have had.  As my feet once again touched American soil, and I came home, returned to my routines, and adjusted to the time change, a strange thing happened to this photographer.  I scrolled through my pictures and there was such a emotional component attachment them. I felt a strange need to protect them.  Oftentimes, it was even strange to look at them all.  It was slightly overwhelming.  I think my mind needed to decompress the trip and all that it entailed before I could share these photos here.  Please know, this is by far not my finest work.  Almost all of them were taken right at midday with direct sun.  Some were taken from our moving bus as it raced through the dusty streets.  Most are grainy and some slightly off focus.  Whatever.  They are my heart, and I am choosing to share a few of my favs with you.  I hope you like them.  Enjoy:)
